Dewclaw the rudimentary first digit of dogs and cats found on the inner side of the front legs above the weight bearing digits
Dock the amputation of a tail
Gestation The period of development of the young in animals from the time of fertilization to the time of birth
lactation the secretion of milk by the mammary glands
mastitis inflammation of the mammary glands
Neuter to desex and animal
OFA orthopedic foundation for animals. Dedicated to the recording statistical data on orthopedic diseases
Parturition the act or process of giving birth to a calf, foal, lamb, puppy
Pedigree A table, chart, diagram, or list of an animals ancestors used in genetics in the analysis of Mendelian inheritance
Quarantine (restrictions) restrictions placed on entering or leaving premises or regions where a case of communicable disease exists or is suspected
Queen a mature entire female cat used for breeding intact
sire male parent
Shedding (hair) falling out of hair coat (seasonal)
Ovariohysterectomy surgical excision of the ovaries and uterus used as a means of preventing pregnancy and ovarian cyclicity. Removal of diseased uterus.
Stripping (grooming) Technique of grooming dogs of the terrier type in which dead hairs are pulled out or cut with a razor blade incorporated into the stripping comb or knife
