Directional Terms

Cranial toward the head
Rostral toward the tip of the nose; when referring to point on the head (front)
Caudal toward the tail
Dorsal toward the back
Ventral toward the belly
Medial toward the median plane/away from the side
Lateral away fro mthe median plane-or-on the animals side
Deep (Internal) away fro mthe body's surface, more internal; toward the center (whole body or part)
Superficial (External) toward the surface (whole body or part)
