HIPAA provides patients these rights... access to PHI, request amendments of PHI, receive an accounting of disclosures, request additional privacy, & request an alternative means of communication
PHI violation fine of $50,000 & up to one year in jail
PHI violation under false pretenses fine of $100,000 & 5 years in prison
PHI violation & sells it fine of $250,000 & 10 years in prison
acknoledgement signatures are patient's signature that acknowledge that they have received a copy of the Notice of Privacy Practices
