Question | Answer |
---|---|
Frequency Table | A grouping of qualitative data into mutually exclusive classes showing the number of observations in each class. |
Bar Chart | A graph in which the classes are reported on the horizontal axis and the class frequencies on the vertical axis. The class frequencies are proportional to the heights of the bars. |
Pie Chart | A chart the shows the proportion or percent that each class represents of the total number of frequencies. |
Frequency Distribution | A grouping of quantitative data into mutually exclusive classes showing the number of observations in each class. |
Class Frequency | The number of observations in each class. |
Raw Data or Ungrouped Data | Unorganized information. |
Classes | Groupings. Quantitative or quantitative category used to classify data. |
Class Interval or Width | The difference between the upper class limit and the lower class limit for a class in a frequency distribution. |
Class Midpoint | Halfway between the lower limits of two consecutive classes. It is computed by adding the lower limits of consecutive classes and dividing the result by 2. |
Class Limits | The upper and lower values of a class for a grouped frequency distribution. |
Histogram | A graph in which the classes are marked on the horizontal axis and the class frequencies on the vertical axis. The class frequencies are represented by the heights of the bars and the bars are drawn adjacent to each other. |
Frequency Polygon | Consists of line segments connecting the points formed by the intersections of the class midpoints and the class frequencies. (The class midpoints are connected with a line segment.) |
Cumulative Frequency Distribution | A frequency distribution using cumulative frequencies for the data and portrayed graphically in a cumulative frequency polygon. |
Cumulative Frequency | The sum of the frequencies accumulated up to the upper boundary of a class in a frequency distribution. |
Cumulative Frequency Polygon | Consists of line segments connecting the points formed by the intersections of the upper class limits and the cumulative frequencies. |
