How is it transmitted? How does a person get the infection? eating or drinking food/drink infected contaminated with cysts or by some forms of sexual contact
What are the general signs and symptoms of an infected person? What body systems/organs are involved? bloody, mucus filled stools, abdominal pain, fever, diarrhea, weight loss
How is the agent commonly identified? How is confirmation of agent made? examination of fecal smear for trophozoites or cysts
How does each bacterial pathogen stain for gram, endospore, capsule, acid fast? What shape does each bacteria have?
Are there any special (classic) signs or symptoms that characterize the disease/infection? diarrhea
Is there a treatment or cure available? What are the most common antibiotics given? iodoquinol, metronidazole (flagyl), dehydroemetine, chloroquine...other drugs to relieve diarrhea, and replacement of fluids
