Serif Typefaces | Include small flourishes or strokes at the tops and bottoms of each letter. |
Persuasive Speaking | A form of speech that is intended to influence the attitudes, beliefs, values, and actions of others. |
Logos | Cause persuasion with evidence to reasoning. |
Syllogism | Three part argument consisting of a general case, specific case, and conclusion |
Pathos | Appealing to the listeners emotions |
Ethos | Moral character of the speaker |
Claim to Fact | Focus on whether something is or is not true |
Claim of Value | Addresses issues of judgment |
Claim of Policy | Recommending a specific course or action to be taken or approved by an audience |
Evidence | Supporting material that provides grounds for a belief |
Warrant | Shows why the link between claim and evidence is valid |
Warrants by Cause | Offer a cause-and-effect relationship as proof of the claim |
Warrants by Sign | Imply that such a close relationship exists between two variables that the presence or absence of one may be taken as an indication of the presence or absence of the other |
