What is on a political map? major cities, countries, tates/territories, oceans.
What is on a topographic Map? roads, railways, power transmission lines, contour lines, elevations, rivers, lakes, geographical names.
What are the major directions? North (N), South (S), East (E), West (W).
What are the minor directions? North East (NE), South East (SE), South West (SW), North West (NW).
What are the extremly minor directions? North North East (NNE), East North East (ENE), East South East (ESE), South South East (SSE), South South West (SSW), West South West (WSW), West North West (WNW), North North West (NNW).
What is Scale? Map scale refers to the relationship (or ratio) between distance on a map and the corresponding distance on the ground. For example, on a 1:100000 scale map, 1cm on the map equals 1 km on the ground.
What is Distance? The extent or amount of space between two things, points, lines, etc. the state or fact of being apart in space, as of one thing from another; remoteness.
How many figures is an area Refference? 4
How many figures is a grid Refference? 6
What is Altitude? The vertical elevation of an object above a surface (such as sea level or land) of a planet or natural satellite.
What are climate Graphs Climate graphs are used to illustrate the average temperature and rainfall experienced at a particular place over the course of a year.
