| Climate Change | A change in the average climate conditions in a region over a long period of time.

| Greenhouse Gases | Includes carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide, and CFCs.

| Carbon Dioxide | The most common greenhouse gas. It is a by-product of oil and gas production. It currently contributes around 75% of Australia’s greenhouse gas emissions.

| Greenhouse Effect | Natural greenhouse gases in the earth’s atmosphere allow rays from the sun to warm the earth’s surface, they also prevent heat escaping from the earth’s atmosphere.

| Enhanced Greenhouse Effect | Human actions increase the amount of greenhouse gas in the atmosphere therefore contributing to climate change.

| Fossil Fuels | These include oil, coal, and natural gas. They are made from decomposing plants and animals, once they are used they will not be replaced.

| Climate Change Mitigation | Efforts to reduce or prevent emission of greenhouse gases.

| Sustainability | The practice of using natural resources responsibly, so the future and present generations are supported.
