| Term | Definition |
| radius | any line segment that connect the center to a point on the circle |
| center | a point within a circle that is the same distance from all points on a circle |
| circle | a closed plane figure in which all the points are the same distance from a point called the center |
| congruent figures | figures that have the same shape and the same size |
| diameter | a line segment that connects two points on a circle and passes through the center |
| turn (rotation) | moves a figure about a point |
| chord | any line segment that connects any two points on a circle |
| flip (reflection) | to turn a plane figure over |
| slide (translation) | a change in position of a figure that moves up, down, or sideways |
| symmetric | a figure that can be folded into two congruent halves that fit on top of each other |
| volume | the number of cubic units needed to fill a solid figure |
| line of symmetry | a line on which a figure can be folded so that both halves are congruent |
| area | the number of square units needed to cover a region |
| perimeter | the distance around a figure |
| similar figures | figures that have the same shape and may not have the same size |
