| Biosphere | The thin layer of life around the earth. |
| Developed Countries | Highly industrialized countries whose citizens have high-average incomes. |
| Developing Countries | Less industrialized countries with lower average income rates. |
| Consumption Crisis | When a person uses up more than their fair share of resources. |
| Sustainable World | The idea to reach the perfect balance in population and consumption |
| Pure Science | Seeks to answer questions about how the natural world works. |
| Applied Science | Uses information provided by pure science to solve problems. |
| Ecology | The study of how living things interact with each other and with their nonliving environments. |
| Hypothesis | A testable explanation for an observation. |
| Experiment | When a hypothesis is tested under controlled conditions. |
