| Term | Definition |
| Seasons | one of four periods of a year Spring, Autumn, Summer, Winter. |
| Rotation | The act of circling around an axis center |
| Revolution | The movement of one object around another object. |
| Ellipse | A closed plane point generated by a point. |
| Solstice | When the sun reaches its highest point (Summer) or lowest (Winter)point in the sky at noon, marked by the longest and shortest days. |
| Equinox/Equator | The time or date (twice a year) at which the sun crosses the celestial equator when day and night are of equal length (about sept. 22 and march 20) |
| Waxing | The moon at any time after a new moon and before a full moon. |
| Waning | The moon at any time after a full moon and before a new moon. |
| Gibbous | A moon in between a half moon but less than a full moon. |
| Solar Eclipse | An eclipse in which the sun is blocked by the moon. |
| Lunar Eclipse | An eclipse in which the moon appears darkened as it appears as it passes into the earths shadow. |
