| Term | Definition |
| Transformation | A change in the position, size, or shape of a figure or graph |
| Congruent | Having the same size and shape |
| Rotation | a transformation about a point P, such that each point and its image are the same distance from P |
| Center Of Rotation | the point about which a figure is rotated |
| Symmetry | In the transformation of a figure such that the image coincides with the preimage, the image and preimage have symmetry |
| Preimage | the original figure in a transformation |
| Image | the new position of a figure after a transformation |
| Rigid Motion | A transformation that does not change the size or shape of a figure. |
| Translation | a transformation that shifts or slides every point of a figure or graph the same distance in the same direction |
| Vector | A quantity that has magnitude and direction |
| Initial Point | the starting point of a vector |
| Line Symmetry | a figure that can be reflected across a line so that the image coincides with the preimage |
| Line Of Symmetry | a line that divides a plane figure into two congruent reflected halves |
| Rotational Symmetry | when a figure can be rotated about a point by an angle less than 360 degrees so that the image coincides with the preimage |
| Angle Of Rotational Symmetry | the smallest angle through which a figure with rotational symmetry can be rotated to coincide with itself |
| Terminal Point | the ending point of a vector |
| Angle Of Rotation | An angle formed by a rotating ray, called the terminal side, and a stationary reference ray, called the initial side. |
| Reflection | A transformation across a line, called the line of reflection, such that the line of reflection is the perpendicular bisector of each segment joining each point and its image. |
| Perpendicular Lines | Lines that intersect to form right angles |
| Perpendicular Bisector | a line perpendicular to a segment at the segment's midpoint |
