| Term | Definition |
| Grounded Theory | Uncovers new theories based upon the data collection and analysis uncovered by the study of a certain phenomenon or process. |
| Ethnography | Study of people, cultures and values that aims to understand those being studied (human behavior) |
| Content Analysis | Systematic study of communication artifacts or media to determine patterns. |
| Collaborative | Approach that focuses on structures or processes with the purpose of change in mind. |
| Multiple Constructed Realities | Idea that different people have different versions of reality and not one truth is accurate. |
| Researcher as Instrument | Concept that researcher is the instrument and their motivations are vital to the outcomes of the study. |
| Distinction | Specific meaning of word or concept to prevent ambiguity or confusion |
| Exemplum | Specific example of word or concept usually visual, concrete and detailed |
| Amplification | Restating a term or concept to slow down and add detail. |
| Metanoia | Qualifies a statement by rejecting it or calling it back in a milder or stronger |
| Credibility | Establishes confidence that the results of the study are true and accurately represent the data collected. |
| Transferability | Study is able to be accurately replicated or repeated with same or similar results. |
| Dependability | Research findings will endure over time and context is accurately recorded during research. |
| Confirmability | Confidence that results would be or have been confirmed by other researchers or studies. |
