Carnivore | Eats mostly meat ex. lion, tiger |
Commensalism | one benefits but the other isn't hurt. ex.moss/tree |
Consumer | organism that gets food by eating other organisms. |
Decomposer | gets food by breaking down dead stuff and returning nutrients to the world. ex. fungus, bacteria |
Ecology | The study of interactions between organism and their environments. |
Ecosystems must have these: | 1.energy 2. living organisms to convert energy into things necessary for life (plants) 3. recycling of materials between organisms and environment. ex.aquarium |
Endangered Species | a species that is in danger of becoming extinct. |
Extinct | a species that has died out completely. ZERO left |
Food Web | how food chains overlap in an ecosystem |
Food Chain | path of energy in food from one organism to another. |
Habitat | the place where a plant or animal naturally lives and grows. |
Herbivore | eats mainly plants ex. deer, rabbits, bees |
Heredity | traits passed down from parent to offspring. |
Heterotrophs | gets food by breaking down dead stuff and returning nutrients. |
Mutualism | both benefit ex. bee and flower |
Omnivore | eats both plants and animals ex. humans, seagulls, bear |
Parasitism | relationship where one organism lives inside another or on another, and it may cause harm. |

Species | a class of individuals having common characteristics |
Symbiotic Relationships | the relationship between organisms. |

What makes animals leave their ecosystems? | humans pollute/destroy, climate change, lack of food/water, invasive species |
Why do animals become extinct? | environment changes, hunting, disease, invasive species, pollution |
What is the biggest danger to ecosystems? | humans |
