What must you do for a Melodic Minorr scale ? Raise the 6th & 7th notes ascending
What are the minor (m) intervals ? 3rd, 6th & 7th
What are the perfect (P) intervals? Unison, 4th, 5th, octave
What is a chord? Playing 2 or more notes simultaneously
What is a triad? A 3 note chord consisting of the intervals of the 3rd and the 5th.
How many types of chords are there ? What are they called ? There are 4 chords… Major, Minor, Diminished , Augmented
What is pitch? The # of vibrations per second It’s the relative position of a musical tone, high or low
What is texture ? The number of melodies and how they are combined
What is harmony? Sounds that support a melody (ex: chords)
What is an octave? The Distance from one letter tone to the same letter tone, higher or lower.
What is a scale ? Progression of tones that ascend and descend in a fixed pattern
Why are black keys enharmonic? Because they have 2 names
What do sharp (#) keys do? Raises the natural tone
What do flat (b) keys do? Lowers the natural tone
What does a chromatic scale consist of? All half steps
What does a whole tone scale consist of ? All whole steps
A whole step = ___? Two half steps
What does the pentatonic scale consist of ? All black keys
What name do black keys (chromatic scale) take as they’re descending? Their flat key name
