Describe ROCK stations. All rock audience, 2/3 male.
Describe ALTERNATIVE stations. Eclectic mix of music, variety, explorative, leans slightly male.
Describe CONTEMPORARY HITS RADIO stations. Currents in heavy rotation, top 40, targets young people, can be in any style, "favourite songs now."
What songs are generally on LIGHT rotation? Brand new songs.
What songs are generally on MEDIUM rotation? Songs by new artists.
What songs are generally on HEAVY rotation? Songs everyone knows.
What are RECURRENT songs? Songs that have reached a higher BURN than LOVE ratio, older than 6 months.
What are GOLD songs? Songs that have hit the 1 year mark.
Name some inventions by Nikola Tesla. AC electricity, the Tesla coil, envisioned cellphones.
What makes a song a HIT to the audience? Rhythm, IT factor, universal lyrics, hook is immediately recognizable, great melody for singing.
What makes a song a HIT to the radio? Short, inoffensive, fits the mix, catches attention, production value on all speakers.
What are the four P's? Position, Programming, Promotion, People
Describe POSITION. The big IT, who loves it, and what is the value added.
Describe PROGRAMMING. How every program reinforces the bit IT.
What is the most powerful form of PROMOTION? Word of mouth.
Who are the PEOPLE? The team, the fans, and the allies.
Describe the Dynamics of Success. A cycle between the big IT and the allies; the IT is communicated to the allies who promote you. As the story of the IT grows, the communication does too.
