Axis An imaginary line through the center of an object
Constellation A group of stars that forms a pattern in the night sky
Galaxy A huge system or group of stars held together by gravity
Gas Giant The four largest planets in earth's solar system; Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, that consists of mainly gases
Gravity The force that pulls bodies or objects toward other bodies or objects
Lunar Eclipse An event in which the moon phases into earth's shadow
Orbit The path that Earth and eight other planets make as they move around the sun
Phases of the Moon Changes in the amount of the sunlit half of the moon that cannot be seen from Earth
Planet A large body of rock or gas that does not produce its own light and orbits around a star
Revolution The movement in a path around an object, as when the Earth travels around the sun; one complete trip around the Sun
Rotation The turning of a planet on its axis
Solar System A system made up of the Sun, nine planets, and smaller bodies that orbit the sun
Star A huge ball of very hot gases that gives off light, heat, and other kinds of energy
Universe The system made up of all the matter and energy there is, including the galaxies and stars, planets and their moons
