pH 7.35-7.45 <7.35 = Acid ; >7.45 = Alkaline (Base)
H+ The amount determines the pH. Acids = donate H+ : Bases = accept H+
PaCO2 35-45 mmHg >45 Respiratory Acidosis ; <35 Respiratory Alkalosis
PaO2 80-100 mmHg 60-79=Mild Hypoxemia ; 40-59=moderate ; <40=severe ; <27=death impending
SaO2 93-97% this value may indicate tissue hypoxia
HCO3- 22-26 mEq/L <22=metabolic acidosis ; >26=metabolic alkalosis
B.E. -2 to +2 mEq/L <-2 = metabolic acidosis ; >+2 = metabolic alkalosis
