pH | 7.35-7.45 <7.35 = Acid ; >7.45 = Alkaline (Base) |
H+ | The amount determines the pH. Acids = donate H+ : Bases = accept H+ |
PaCO2 | 35-45 mmHg >45 Respiratory Acidosis ; <35 Respiratory Alkalosis |
PaO2 | 80-100 mmHg 60-79=Mild Hypoxemia ; 40-59=moderate ; <40=severe ; <27=death impending |
SaO2 | 93-97% this value may indicate tissue hypoxia |
HCO3- | 22-26 mEq/L <22=metabolic acidosis ; >26=metabolic alkalosis |
B.E. | -2 to +2 mEq/L <-2 = metabolic acidosis ; >+2 = metabolic alkalosis |
