Fauly A long narrow crack in the earth's crust
Plateau A high land form with a flat top
Folds A bend in a layer of rock. Plates push into each other at the edge of continents.
Mountain A tall landform that rises to a peek
Earthquake A sudden shake of the rock that makes up the earth's crust. Natural disaster that is caused by earth itself.
Seismic Waves a vibration caused by an earthquake
volcano a mountain that goes up around an opening in the earths crust. Not related to weather
weathering The slow porcess that breaks rocks into smaller pieces
chemical weathering changes the minerals that make up rocks; can be caused by oxygen, acids, carbon dioxide
physical weathering changes the size or shape of rock; caused by weather, freezing, plant roots
erosion the removing of weathered rock
deposition the dropping of eroded soil bits of rock
mineral a natural, nonliving substance usually solid material that makes up rock, Examples diamonds, talc, quartz.
Moh's hardness scale scale from 1 (softess) to 10 (hardest).

Diamonds hardest mineral
color, luster (shine), streak, hardness properties of minerals
igneous rock a rock forms when small bits of matter are pressed together in layers.
sedimentary rock a rock that forms from when small bits of matter are pressed togehter in layers.
metamorphic rock rock formed from another kind of rock under extreme heat and pressure
obssidian and granite igneous rock
limestone and sandstone sedimentary rock
marble and gneiss metamorphic rock
