Coronary Artery Disease

What is CAD? Atherosclerosis (build up of plaque) within the coronary arteries.
What are the modifiable risk factors of CAD? *Diet; Obesity; *Physical inactivity; *Smoking; Diabetes; Hypertension; Stress.
What are the non-modifiable risk factors of CAD? Gender; Heredity; Age; Race.
What is Acute Coronary Syndrome (ACS)? Irreversible myocardial cell death (necrosis); 20 minutes for cellular death to begin. 4-6 hours for entire muscle layer to die.
What are the Diagnostics for CAD? Chest x-ray; ECG; Lipid profile.
What is chronic stable angina? It is pain or discomfort during periods of myocardial ischemia or infarction. May occur when oxygen demands exceed supply.
What is a MI? Actual heart muscle death.
