nursing center | a ficility that provides health care survices to residents who require regular of continuous care; licensed nursing staff is required |

ombudsman | an advocate; someone who supports or promotes the needs and interests of another person |

primary nursing | a method of organizing nursing care; a nurse is resopnsible for the total care of specific resident on a 24 hour basis |

registered nurse (RN) | an individual who has studied nursing for 2 3 or 4 years and who has passed a licensing test for RN's |

skilled nursing facility (SNF) | a facility that provides nursing care for residents who need comples care but do not need hospital services; may be a part of a nursing center or a hospital |
supportive care | care given on a 24 hour basis that meets a person's basic needs |
