KDA-Admitting, transferring, and discharging a patient

TermMeaning
Admission the administrative process that covers th period from the time the patient enters the inisitution door to the time the patient is settled
Patient plan of care a written plan stating the nursing diagnosis, the patient goals or expected outcomes, and the nursing orders, interventions, or actions to be taken

Transfer Moving a hospital patient from one room, unit, or facility to another
discharge The official procedure for helping patients to leave the health care institution, including how to care for themselves at home
Convalescence The period of recovery after illness or surgery
Holistic An approach that reflects the four dimensions of a "whole" person: physiological, psychological, sociocultural, and spritual
Physiological Referring to a persons biological response to alterations in the bodys structures and functions
Psychological Referring to a persons cognitive and emotional response to the self and the surrounding enviroment
Sociocultural Referring to the persons interpersonal response to socialization practices in the family and community
Spiritual Referring to an indiviuals personal response to inspirational forces
