Current Measurements
Bio Med Tech course 1
Question | Answer |
---|---|
What is the symbol for Alternating current measurements in the milli amp or amp (unit) range? | AC mA/A |
What is the symbol for Alternating current measurements in the micro amp range? | AC uA |
What is the symbol for Direct current measurements in the milli amp or amp (unit)range? | DC mA/A |
What is the symbol for Direct current measurements in the micro amp range? | DC uA |
Where do you place the black lead when measuring current? | In the common (COM) jack. |
Where do you place the red lead when measuring current? | In the corresponding amperage jack. When measuring A-amp (unit) measurements. And mA/uA when measuring in the milli or micro amp range |
How do you measure current? | The multimeter must be placed "IN" the circuit to measure current |
In order for current to flow through the meter the circuit has to be? | Broker (opened) and the meter inserted |
Where do you place the red test lead in reference to the black test lead? | Red test lead is placed at a point that is more positive than the black test lead. |
What happens if the test leads are reversed on an analog meter? | The analog meter's needle moves to the left, off the scale |
What happens if the test leads are reversed on a digital meter? | The meter will measure a negative value of current. Ignore the negative sign, the value is correct |
What happens when a switch on the circuit is closed? | Current will not flow through the meter |
What happens when a switch on the circuit is opened? | Current must pass through the meter |
When making current measurements, the meter must be placed where? | Must be placed in the series with the current path. Electrons in the path of measurement must flow through the meter. |
