Protista | Unicellular or colonial; have nucleus and organelles |
Fungi | Mainly multi-cellular; plantlike, but cannot carry out photosynthesis |
Plantae | Multicellular; carry out photosynthesis |
Animalia | Multicellular; possess complex organ system |
Cerebrum | Controls all voluntary activities; receives and interprets sensory information |
Cerebellum | Coordinates muscle activity |
Hypothalamus | Regulates homeostasis and secretes horomones |
Medulla | Controls involuntary actions such as breathing and swallowing |
Cell membrane | Outer membrane of the cell; controls what enters and leaves the body |
Centrioles | Form spindle fibers during cellular division |
Golgi Body | Sorts and packages proteins |
Lysosomes | Digest old organelles and foreign substances |
Mitochondria | Produce energy for the cell |
Nucleolus | Part of the nucleus; makes ribosomes |
Nucleus | Control center of the cell; contains the chromosomes |
Ribosomes | Site of protein synthesis |
Rough endoplasmic reticulum | Makes proteins to be exported out of cell. Studded with ribosomes |
Smooth endoplasmic reticulum | Makes lipids and detoxifies enzymes |
Vacuole | Stores wastes and other minerals |
