Steps in the BLS survey

What is step number one of the BLS survey? 1 check responsiveness – Tap and shout, check breathing for 5-10 seconds.
What is step number two of the BLS survey? 2 Activate the Emergency Response System and get AED. “Tell them the patient is not responsive and is or is not breathing.”
What is the third step in the BLS survey? 3 Circulation – Check pulse for 5-10 seconds, no pulse = CPR. If pulse = support breathing 1 breath q 5 to 6 seconds to =10-12 breaths per minute check pulse q 2 minutes.
What is the fourth step in the BLS survey? 4 Defibrillation – Check for shockable rhythm, if indicated clear patient, follow shock with CPR beginning with compressions
Name five critical concepts necessary to providing high quality CPR. 1.Push hard and fast, 100 bpm, 2 inches deep, complete chest recoil, 30:2 2. Allow for complete chest recoil 3. Minimize interruptions of compression to 10 seconds or less 4. Switch providers q 2min 5. Avoid excessive ventilation
What is different about a case of hypoxia such as in a drowning? There is no oxygen in the blood so Airway takes priority over circulation
