conclusion | the part of an experiment that states the results from analyzing the data. |
data | information collected by performing an experiment |
density | a quality of an object or substance that describes the amount of matter (mass) per unit volume. |
experiment | a test, or trial, composed of a series of steps used to discover new information. |
horizontal axis | The bottom of a line or bar graph. |
hypothesis | An educated guess as to the solution of a problem or the outcome of an experiment. |
mass | The amount of matter contained in an object. |
material | A list of the apparatus and supplies needed to perform an experiment. |
pictograph | A graph that uses symbols to display quantitative data. |
pie graph | A round graph that has pie shaped pieces. Pie graphs are used most often to display percentage data. |
procedure | A series of investigative steps used to gather data designed to test a hypothesis. |
questions | The part of an experiment that identifies the experiment's purpose. |
SI System | A system of measurement developed to standardize measurement, using standardized units and subunits expressed in powers of 10. |
tare weight | The mass of the empty container before an object is placed in it to be weighed on the balance. |
vertical axis | The line that forms the side of a line or bar graph. |
volume | The amount of space occupied or contained by an object. |
