What organisms cause chronic septic arthritis? | TB and yeast |
What are some risk factors for SA? | implants, bacterial infection, chronic illness or disease, IV drug abuse, immunosuppressant use, joint trauma, arthroscopy, RA, sickle cell |
When does SA most commonly occur? | children under 3 in the hip |
What are the symptoms of SA? | intense joint pain, joint swelling, redness, unable to move the limb with the affected joint, low-grade fever |
What is the treatment of SA? | antibiotics, rest, elevation, warm compresses, exercise, fluid aspiration, surgery |
What are the complications of SA? | joint degeneration |
