Check bracelet "name, B day" | |
Introduce self | |
Explain procedure | |
Pull Curtain | |
Set up: large towel on bottom for clean setup | |
3 washcloths and 1 towel on top | |
pull out basin, soap and lotion | |
fill basin with warm water, feel temp then ask if the temp is okay for the patient | |
raise the bed to comfortable working height | |
put on GLOVES | |
expose foot and leg | |
put towel underneath the leg to protect the bed | |
put patients foot in the basin | |
grab wash cloth and wet it, put soap on it and wash top bottom and in between toes using different spots on the washcloth for each area, put foot back in basin | |
get new wash cloth wet it in the basin and rinse the foot, top, bottom, in between toes | |
KEEP FOOT OUT OF BASIN NOW. Move the basin and dry the foot top, bottom, in between toes | |
get out the lotion. apply to top and bottom of foot. wipe off excess lotion with a towel. | |
NOW CLEAN UP.... basin (empty, rinse, empty, pat dry) soiled stuff in soiled area. Extra towels in hamper | |
Remove gloves WASH HANDS | |
Cover leg, bed low, call light | |
Open curtains WASH HANDS |
