Term | Definition |

Digit | Any number 1 through 9 and 0 |
Place Value | The value of the positon of a digit in a number |
Product | The answer to a multiplication problem |
Dividend | The number being divided |
Divsisor | The numer by which the dividend is divided |
Quotient | The answer to a division problem |
Remainder | The portion of the dividend that is not evenly divisible by the divisosor |
Place Value | Each diit in a number occupies a position called a place value |
Numerator | The top number of the fraction. Represents the pieces. |
Denominator | Bottom number of the fraction. Represents the total or whole amount. |
Freaction Bar | line that separates the mumerator from the denominator |
Factor | A number that divides evenly into another number |
Least Common Denomiator (LCD) | The smallest multiple that two numbers share |
Improper Fraction | A fraction where the numerator is larger than the denominator |
Proper Fraction | A fraction where the denominator is larger that the numerator |
Common Denominator | Two or more fractions having the same denominator |
Reciprocals | Pairs of numbers that equal 1 when multiplied together |
Terminating Decimals | A decimal that is not continuous |
Ratios | A relationship between two numbers |
Proportion | Two ratios that have equal values |
Percent | Per hundred (part per hundred) |
Variable | A letter representing an unknown quanity |
Constant | A number that cannot change |
Expression | Mathmatical sentence containing constants and variables |
Exponent | A number or symbol placed above and after another number or symbol |
