Climate Changing | a change in global or regional climate patterns, in particular a change apparent from the mid to late 20th century onwards and attributed largely to the increased levels of atmospheric carbon dioxide produced by the use of fossil fuels |
Energy Resources | Renewable (sun, sea, wind) or non-renewable (coal mine, gas well, oil well) resource used for obtaining an energy source. |
Green Resources | Green Energy is energy that can be extracted, generated, and/or consumed without any perfume, dyes |
Non-Renewable Resources | Most fossil fuels, such as oil, natural gas and coal are considered nonrenewable resources in that their use is not sustainable because their formation takes billions of years. |
Renewable Resources | Renewable energy is generally defined as energy that comes from resources which are naturally replenished on a human timescale such as sunlight, wind, rain, tides, waves and geothermal heat. |
Greenhouse Effect | the trapping of the sun's warmth in a planet's lower atmosphere due to the greater transparency of the atmosphere to visible radiation from the sun than to infrared radiation emitted from the planet's surface. |
Greenhouse Gases | a gas that contributes to the greenhouse effect by absorbing infrared radiation |
Acid Rain | rainfall made sufficiently acidic by atmospheric pollution that it causes environmental harm, typically to forests and lakes. |
Pollution | the presence in or introduction into the environment of a substance or thing that has harmful or poisonous effects. |
Adapt | make (something) suitable for a new use or purpose; modify |
Depend | rely on |
Modify | make partial or minor changes to (something), typically so as to improve it or to make it less extreme. |
Natural Disaster | a natural event such as a flood, earthquake, or hurricane that causes great damage or loss of life. |
Deforestation | Deforestation is the clearing of trees, transforming a forest into cleared land. The first step in turning the wilderness into a shopping center is deforestation |
Reforestation | the action of renewing forest cover |
Positive | with no possibility of doubt; clear and definit |
