Celsius to Fahrenheit (*C X 5/9) + 32 = *F
Converting pounds (lbs) to kilograms (kg) divide by 2.2
Converting kilograms (kg) to pounds (lbs) multiply by 2.2
Formula method of finding dosage D/H x V = X (desired / have x volume = X) desired = dose ordered, have = dose on hand, volume = solid or liquid, X = amount to be given
Calculating flow rate V/T x DF = R (volume/time x drop factor = rate) volume = amount to be infused, time = time required for volume (must be in minutes), drop factor = calibration of IV tubing, rate (flow rate) in ggt/min
Short-cut method for drop factoring Must be ml/hr, does not work for flow rates less than one hour = 15ggt/min = 60/15 = 4 drops per minute = 240 drops per hour
