Which countries explored America? England, France and Spain
Why did the English come to America? Wanted to trade with the Natives for deerskin and beaver pelts, so they had a fairly good relationship with the Native Americans
Why did the French come to America? Wanted to trade with the Natives. Had a great relationship with the Native Americans.
Why did the Spanish come to America? Came searching for a quicker trade route to Asia. Also came looking for gold and silver. Did not have a good relationship with the Native Americans.
Who fought in the Creek War? The White Sticks (with the settlers) and the Red Sticks - two parts of the Creek Nation
What was the reason for the Creek War? A large road was built through Creek land that upset some Creeks. Also, some Creeks wanted to hang on to their way of life which was being upset by the settlers moving in.
Who were the leaders during the Creek War? Chief Tecumseh led the Red Sticks and Chief Pushmahtaha along with William McIntosh led the White Sticks.
What did Chief Tecumseh and the Red Sticks believe? They thought the settlers were ruining the lives of the Native Americans. They wanted them to leave.
What did Pushmahtaha and the White Sticks believe? They wanted to find a peaceful way to live alongside the settlers.
Who won the Creek War? The White Sticks and the Settlers
What happened because the Red Sticks lost the Creek War? The Creeks had to give up a lot of their land
How did the explorers and settlers change the lives of the Native Americans? Changes in culture, belief, and clothing Shared diseases that were not present before Took a lot of their land
