pendulum | A mass hung from a fixed support so that it is able to swing freely under the influence of gravity. |
cycle | any complete round or series of occurrences that repeats or is repeated. |
frequency | the number of periods or regularly occurring events of any given kind in unit of time, usually in one second. |
amplitude | the absolute value of the maximum displacement from a zero value during one period of an oscillation. |
period | The duration of one cycle of a regularly recurring action or event. |
oscillator | a circuit or instrument for producing an alternating current or voltage of a required frequency |
damping | a decreasing of the amplitude of an electrical or mechanical wave |
linear motion | the motion of an object in a single direction. |
harmonic motion | periodic motion consisting of one or more vibratory motions that are symmetric about a region of equilibrium, as the motion of a vibrating string of a musical instrument. |
hertz | The SI derived unit used to measure the frequency of vibrations and waves, such as sound waves and electromagnetic waves. One hertz is equal to one cycle per second. |
phase | The SI derived unit used to measure the frequency of vibrations and waves, such as sound waves and electromagnetic waves. One hertz is equal to one cycle per second. |
