TermDefinition
Force A push or a pull that changes or tends to change the state of rest of an object or changes the direction of an object.
Balanced Force Equal forces acting on an object in opposite directions.
Change of Direction An object will accelerate if there is a change in direction or speed.
Motion The state in which one object's distance from another is changing.
Change of Speed An object accelerates if it speeds up and decelerates when it slows down.
Force Strength The length of an arrow tells you the force strength - the longer the arrow, the greater the force.
Friction The resistance that one surface or object encounters when moving over another.
Graph A picture designed to express words, particularly the connection between two or more quantities.
Magnetic Attraction Unlike poles of magnets are drawn together.
Magnetic Repulsion Like poles of magnets push away from each other.
Mass The amount of matter in an object.
Reference Point A place or object used for comparison to determine if an object is in motion.
Gravitational Force A force that pulls objects toward each other.
Speed The distance an object travels per unit of time.
Unbalanced Force Result in a net force and cause a change in an object's motion.
Net Force The combination of all forces acting on an object.
Acceleration The rate at which velocity changes.
Velocity Speed in a given direction.
