what is a clay shoveler's fracture? Avulsion fracture of the spinous process in the lower cervical/upper thoracic region. (vertebral prominens)
what is a hangman's fracture? Fracture of the anterior arch of C2 due to hyperextension.
What is a compression fracture? Fracture that causes copaction of bone and decrease in length or width. Often due to osteoporosis
What is Herniated nucleus pulposus (HNP)? Ruptured or prolapse of the nucleus pulposus into the spinal canal.
What is osteoarthritis? A degenerative joint disease (DJD). Marked by progress cartilage deterioration
What is spondylitis? Defect in the pars interarticularis
What is spondylolisthesis? Forward displacement of a vertebrae over a lower.
what is ankylosing spondylitis? Rheumatoid arthritis of spine and sacroiliac joints a.k.a. Bamboo spine
What is Spina Bifida? Failure of posterior encasement of spinal cord to close
