Adaptations

Fitness Ability of an organism to survive its environment
Natural Selection The gradual, non-random process by which biological traits become either more or less common in a population as a function of differential reproduction of their bearers "Survival of the Fittest"
Heredity Passing down trait from parent to off-spring
Population Genetics The study of allele frequency distribution and change under the influence of the four main evolutionary processes

Mendelian Genetics Law of inheritance, the idea of dominant and recessive alleles
Allele A trait in a species
Evolution A change in number and type of allele over a period of time
Cat Behavioral: Hissing - To scare off Physical: Whiskers - To smell Physical: Tail - For balance
Dog Behavioral: Peeing - To mark their spots Physical: Nose - For smell Physical: Tail - For balance
Lamarck Believed that organisms change to adapt its environment, and also believed the body parts that are not being used are gradually disappearing
Darwin Believed variations help animals to survive its environment, and that individuals that are not adapted to its environment die off
