cervical vertebrae | top 7 bones of the spine in neck |
humerus | arm above elbow to shoulder |
ulna | bone that runs from pinkie to elbow |
radius | bone that runs from thumb to elbow - push against it to take pulse |
carpals | wrist bones |
metacarpals | in the palms of your hands |
phalanges | fingers and toes |
maxilla | upper jaw |
mandible | lower jaw |
sternum | center of rib cage |
xiphoid process | lowest soft, flexible piece of sternum |
patella | knee cap |
metatarsals | foot bones, between tarsals(ankles) and phalanges (toes) |
occipital | back of the skull, just above neck |
temporal | side of the skull, just above ears |
frontal | front of skull, forehead |

mental foramen | tiny hole in the jaw (mandible) |
sphenoid | on skull, between ear (temporal) and eye |

parietal | back of skull towards the top |
medullary cavity | very center of long bone, made of yellow marrow |
diaphysis | shaft of a long bone - compact tissue |
epiphysis | ends of a long bone - spongy tissue |
periosteum | outer covering of long bones |
iliac crest | outer edge of ilium in pelvis |
ischium | lowest part of pelvis, looks like a mask |
