What is the PHP? Patient Hygiene Performance
What is the PHP used for? A plaque index, assess the soft material that is loosely attached to the teeth.
Why use the PHP? Assess the patient's health and factors that affect the patient's health. Education and motivation for the patients and evaluate plaque control efforts.
How is the PHP used? Use mouth mirror and dental unit light. Evaluate stained debris on specific teeth and tooth surfaces. Determine patient's scores.
What teeth surfaces are used? Facial #3, #14, #8, #24, and Lingual #19, #30
How many surfaces are used in grading? Mesial, Ligual, Incisal, Facial, Class V
