Term | Definition |

CPU | central processing unit: the key component of a computer system, which contains the circuitry necessary to interpret and execute program instructions. |
RAM | a heavy beak or spur projecting from the bow of a warship for penetrating the hull of an enemy's ship. |
ROM | s "built-in" computer memory containing data that normally can only be read, not written to. ROM contains the programming that allows your computer to be "booted up" or regenerated each time you turn it on. |
MOUSE | a hand-operated electronic device that controls the coordinates of a cursor on your computer screen as you move it around on a pad; on the bottom of the device is a ball that rolls on the surface of the pad; "a mouse takes much more room than a trackball" |

KEYBOARD | A keyboard is the set of typewriter-like keys that enables you to enter data into a computer and other devices. Computer keyboards are similar to electric-typewriter keyboards but contain additional keys. |
HEADPHONES | Consumer electronics encompasses a massive category of electronics that includes televisions, cameras, DVDs, audio devices, headphones, tablets and many other home products. |
