Therapeutic Actions & Allergies

Drug type: Pallative relieves symptoms of disease but does NOT affect the disease itself(Ex: Morphine sulfate, Aspirin for pain)
Drug type: Curative Cures a disease or condition(Ex: Penicillin for infection)
Drug type: Supportive Supports body function until other treatments or body's response can take over(Ex: Norepinephrine bitatrate for low blood press; aspirin for high body tem)
Drug Type: Substitutive Replaces body fluids or substances(Ex: Thyroxine for hypothyroidism, insulin for diabetes mellitus)
Drug Type: Chemotherapeutic Destroys malignant cells(Ex: Busulfan for leukemia)
Drug Type: Restorative Returns the body to health(Ex: Vitamin, mineral supplements)
Symptom: skin rash either an intraepidermal vesicle rash or a rash typified by an urticarial wheal or macular eruption; rash is usually gernalized over the body
Symptom: pruritus itching of the skin with/without rash
Symptom: angioedema edema due to increased permeability of the blood capillaries
Symptom: rhinitis excessive watery discharge from the nose
Symptom: lacrimal tearing excessive tearing
Symptom: nausea, vomiting stimulation of these centers in the brain
Symptom: wheezing & dyspnea shortness of breath & wheezing on inhalation/exhalation due to accumulated fluids & swelling of the respiratory tissues
Symptom: diarrhea irriation of the mucosa of the large intestine
