Community | The public or group of people with common interests who live in a specific locality. |
Health | Complete physical and social well-being, not merely the absence |
Public Health | The science and art of prevention disease, prolonging life and promoting physical health and efficiency through organized community efforts. |
Dental Public Health | The science and art of preventing and controlling dental disease and promoting dental health through organized community efforts. |
Population Health | The health outcomes of a group of individuals, including the distribution of such outcomes within the group. |
Department of Health and Human Services DHHS | A department of the federal government presiding over agencies that conduct oral health activities. |
Assessment | A core public health function that includes the regular and systemic collection, assemblage, and analysis of data and communication regarding the oral health of the community. |
Policy Development | A core public health function in which laws are planned and developed to support community oral health issues. |
Assurance | A core public health function in which agencies educate, support, and evaluate programs to ensure that the community's oral health needs are addressed. |
