mortal sin | a sin that is very seriously wrong, known to be wrong and freely chosen |
venial sin | a sin that is less serious |
sin | a thought, word, or action that is against God's law. |
conscience | God's gift that helps us know right from wrong. |
contrition | when we are sorry for our sins and firmly intend not to sin again |
confession | telling the priest our sins |
penance | a prayer or action that shows we are sorry for our sins |
absolution | is God's forgiveness of our sins through the words and actions of the priest |
What happens when people commit a mortal sin? | They choose to break their friendship with God. |
