angles | The space between two lines or surfaces that intersect at a given point |
cutline | finger position, finger angle. the angle at which fingers are held when cutting the line that creates the end shape |
apex | this reference point is located by placing a comb flat on the top of the head, and comb will rest on the highest point |
tension | Amount of pressure applied when combing and holding a section, created by stretching or pulling the section |
distribution | Where and how hair is moved over the head |
guideline | section of hair which determines the length the hair will be cut. located at either the interior or perimeter of the cut |
traveling guide | Guideline that moves as the haircutting progresses, used when creating layers or graduation; |

stationary guide | A guideline used in a blunt, one-length haircut, |

weight line | Visual line in the haircut where the ends of the hair hang together. |
