Alternative Energy A form of energy used to replace fossil fuels
Biofuel A type of fuel made from living or recently living organisms like corn
Conservation The wise use (saving) of natural resources in order to protect them
Coal A fossil fuel used for energy which was formed from decomposed PLANT material
Fossil Fuel A nonrenewable resource formed from the remains of prehistoric plants and animals
Fossil The trace or remains of ancient organisms preserved in rock
Formation The way something is structured or created
Geothermal Energy Heat energy from inside the Earth or Earth Heat
Model A copy or replica of an object
Natural Resource A material found in nature that is useful to humans
Non-Renewable Resource A resource that cannot be readily replaced in our life time
Hydroelectric Energy Electrical energy produced using the power of moving water
Solar Energy Energy from the SUN
Sedimentary Rock A type of rock formed when layers of sediment are pressed together and harden over time. This rock contains fossils and is usually found near water sources
Natural Gas A fossil fuel used for energy which was formed through heat and pressure, from the remains of ancient plants an animals
Petroleum A liquid fossil fuel, also known as oil, formed from the remains of ancient plants and animals
Oil A liquid fossil fuel used for energy which was formed through heat and pressure, from the remains of ancient plants and animals
