Despair Phase - What do children exhibit? | The crying stops & depression sets in. They are inactive, withdrawn, depressed, sad, uncommunicative, regresses |
Detachment Phase or Denial - What do children do? | It is a sign of resignation. They show increased interest in surrounding, interacts with others, forms new relationships, appears happy |

Ceiling Effect | Doses higher than the recommended dose will NOT produce greater relief. Opoids do NOT have a ceiling effect. |
