Light and Sound Energy

sound energy Energy of matter caused by vibrations
vibration the back and forth movement of the particles of matter
light energy energy produced by moving ‘light-waves’ through space in a straight line
visible the ability to "see"; things we can “see”
prism a transparent (clear) object that bends and separates light into the colors of the rainbow. (ROYGBIV)
laser beam of light focused in only one direction, making the light very precise and powerful.
shadow a dark image formed when a solid object blocks light.
reflect the bouncing of light off a smooth, shiny surface.
refract the bending of light as it passes from one material to another
telescope is a tool that uses mirrors (reflects) and lenses (refract) to help see objects that are far away
absorb to take-in; (like a sponge)
lens is a clear, curved object that refracts (bends) light (like eye glasses and hand lens)
medium a surrounding condition or environment ( like... Ocean fish live in a medium of salt water.)
transmit to allow light to pass through
mirror a piece of glass that reflects images
