SDs and Prompting

| What does SD stand for? | Discriminative Stimulus |
| What is an SD? | A stimulus which reliably evokes a certain response due to a history of the organism receiving reinforcement in it's presence |
| What's the difference between an SD and an instruction? | An instruction is something given to the learner that we hope will eventually become an SD. An instruction does not necessarily always evoke the response |
| Give an example of an instruction that is not an SD yet | If we say "have a seat" and the child does not sit |
| What is a prompt? | A prompt is anything that is added to the instruction that evokes the correct response |
| If you try a prompt and it doesn't evoke the correct response, was it a prompt? | No |
| What is the model for conceptualizing prompts? | Instruction -> Prompt -> Learner's response |
| Is repeating the instruction a prompt? | No, it is not anything new added to the instruction, it is just the instruction again |
