R.O.M terms

range of motion terms

bring chin to rest on chest flexion
return head to erect position extension
move foot so that toes are pointed upward dorsiflexion
raise arm to side to position above head with palm away from head abduction
lower arm sideways and across body as far as possible adduction
turn lower arm and hand so that palm is up supination
turn lower arm so that palm is down pronation
move leg behind body hyperextension
tilt head as far as possible toward each shoulder lateral flexion
move head in a circular motion as far as possible to right & left pivotal
elbow flexed, rotate shoulder by moving arm until thumb is turned inward & toward back internal rotation
elbow flexed move arm until thumb is upward and lateral to head external rotation
move are in full circle circumduction
bend wrist medially toward thumb radial flexion
bend wrist laterally toward fifth finger ulnar flexion
touch thumb to each finger of the same hand opposition
turn foot & leg toward other leg internal rotation
turn foot and leg away from other leg external rotation
move foot so that toes are pointed downward plantar flexion
turn sole of foot medially inversion
turn sole of foot laterally eversion
Ball and socket shoulder and hip
hinge elbow, knee, ankle
pivotal forearm, neck and cervical spine
