Principles of Bite Wing 1. receptor placed parallel w crowns of MX and MD 2. stabilized by PT bite 3. CR directed throguh contacts w VA of 10+
Bite Wing Tab paperboard that fits around intraoral receptor can be used w either horizontal or vertical bw
Size 0 post of children w primary dentition horizontal placement
Size 2 post of adults horizontal or veritcal
Size 3 only used for bw exposure examine all pm and m contact areas
Rules to BW Technique 1. receptor placement -- ovr prescribed area 2. receptor position -- parallel to crowns of MX and MD 3. vertical angulation -- +10 4. horizontal angulation -- CR of xray must b directed through contact areas btwn teeth 5. Receptor exposure -
Exposure of PA and BW 1. expose all PA ant teeth 2. expose all PA post teeth 3. BW exposures (pm then m)
Vertical BW examine lvl of alveolar bone in mouth
BW Modification -- Endentulous cotton roll laced in area of missing to support BW
BW Modification -- Bony Growth receptor placed btwn tori and tongue
