Term | Definition |
---|---|
Divine Office | Official daily prayer of the Church; aka Liturgy of the Hours. It offers prayers, Scripture and reflections at regular intervals throughout the day. |
Contemplation | Wordless prayer whereby a person's mind and heart rest in God's goodness and majesty. |
Virtues | Good habits that help us live a moral life. |
Ecumenism | The movement, inspired & led by the Holy Spirit, that seeks the union of all Christian religions and eventually the unity of all peoples throughout the world. |
Second Coming | The final judgment of all humanity when Christ returns to earth. It is also known by its Greek term, Parousia, which means "arrival." |
Laity | All the members of the Church who have been initiated into the Church through Baptism & are not ordained (the clergy) or in consecrated life; participates in Jesus' prophetic, priestly & kingly ministries. |
Infallibility | A gift of the Spirit whereby the Pope & the bishops are preserved from error when proclaiming a doctrine related to Christian faith or morals. |
